Position: Marketing Representative
Reports to: Executive Director
The Presbyterian Endowment Education Resource (PEER) Network has a new and exciting subscription membership program designed to help Presbyterian churches and organizations effectively promote planned giving and endowments. This position is being underwritten for three years through a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment. After 3 years, this position is designed to be self-funding.
Position Summary:
The position is dynamic as it is a part of an entrepreneurial program that is young and growing. The intent is that it will undergo two phases:
Initial phase: Identify and engage Presbyterian churches and Presbyterian non-profit organizations who would benefit from and use planned giving and endowment tools included in www.PresbyterianEndowment.org’s membership program.
Secondary phase: As the membership base grows, the position will evolve into maintaining relationships and providing excellent service to support member churches.
Position Requirements:
• Four year undergraduate degree preferred.
• 3 years or more of prior sales/marketing experience, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
• Prior fund-raising experience desirable.
• Must have good knowledge of the PCUSA denomination, its various practices and policies, its various components and entities, and the people of influence in those entities.
• Must have excellent communication (written, verbal, telephone) skills, organizational skills and computer skills.
Primary Responsibilities (in order of importance):
1. Identify New PEER Subscription Members – Help increase the PEER Network family of subscribing churches and Presbyterian-affiliated non-profits.
2. Membership Retention – Provide current membership support so that they see value in renewing annually.
3. Sales/Marketing Contacts – Use denominational contacts to arrange and make effective calls on decision makers at Presbyterian churches and non-profit organizations that are good prospects for PEER Membership Services.
4. Publicity – Spread the PEER message to influential persons at centers of influence throughout the denomination – churches, Presbyteries and other governing bodies, operating units at PCUSA headquarters, Presbyterian-related non-profit organizations.
5. Work Collaboratively – Work together with the staff of the Presbyterian Foundation and Texas Presbyterian Foundation to most effectively serve the denomination’s churches and organizations.
6. Shortening the sales cycle - Shepherd prospective members through the decision-making process in a manner that results in reducing the average sales cycle from the current X months to Y months.
7. Administrative Support – Assist the executive director in servicing current and prospective member needs, research, planning and presentations.
8. Seek Best Practices – During interactions with churches, seek best practices and secure approval to share materials and concepts with other churches.
